Deborah D. Cochran has over 34 years of experience assisting individuals, families and business owners with all of their estate planning needs. Her practice includes designing custom estate plans for each client, as well as tax planning and trust and estate administration. Debby’s personable approach quickly puts her clients at ease and comfortable to discuss their family situation, helping them focus on what is most important to them. Debby then works with her clients to design the appropriate estate plan to accomplish their goals and minimize taxes.

Debby has been consistently recognized for her expertise and commitment to her clients. Washingtonian magazine has named her a leading estate planning attorney in the Washington DC metropolitan area every year for over 20 years. The final four issues of Worth Magazine/Robb Report named Debby among the top 100 attorneys in the nation serving the needs of affluent individuals and their families.

Debby has been selected as one of the best Trusts & Estates attorneys by The Best Lawyers in America (2005-2024 editions) and included on the Washington DC Super Lawyers list every year since 2005. She has the highest attorney rating from Martindale Hubbell.

Debby graduated with honors from Franklin and Marshall College in 1985 and also passed the CPA exam that year. She received her JD from George Washington University Law School, with high honors in 1988, and was a member of the Order of the Coif. Prior to founding her own firm in 2004, Debby was a partner at Miles & Stockbridge and Squire Sanders (now Squire Sanders Patton Boggs).

Debby is involved in a wide range of community activities and for the past seven years has been on the Board of Directors of Safe Spot, a charitable organization that supports the needs of abused children in Fairfax, Virginia. She loves to run, hike and travel in her free time.

Debby lives in Great Falls, Virginia with her husband and has four adult children. She is admitted to practice in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.
