Kimberly Martin Turner focuses her practice on trust and estate administration, probate, and estate planning. For more than 20 years, Kimberly has assisted and represented fiduciaries in administering estates and trusts and has advised estate planning clients in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
Kimberly takes a practical approach to administering estates and trusts, guiding executors and trustees through the complexities of the administration process. She advises and assists fiduciaries on all aspects of administration, including asset valuation, accountings, distribution, settlement agreements, and representation in local courts. Kimberly also counsels clients in estate planning, including the use and preparation of wills, trusts, power of attorney, asset transfer methods, and the related tax concepts.
Kimberly holds a B.A. from the University of Virginia and J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. After law school, she clerked for the Deputy Presiding Judge of the Probate & Tax Divisions of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Kimberly also served as a federal tax analyst on the editorial staff for CCH tax publications of Wolters Kluwer. Prior to joining Cochran Law Group, Kimberly practiced estate planning and administration with law firms in Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia, and operated her own estate planning practice in Arlington, Virginia for many years.
A dedicated educator, Kimberly developed educational programs for Wealthcounsel, LLC on trust administration and tax topics for practitioners across the country. As a former adjunct professor at The George Washington University School of Law, she taught transactional drafting, including asset and fiduciary agreements. Kimberly continues to educate attorneys on trusts and estate topics as a presenter of continuing legal education courses for the National Business Institute, the DC Bar, and the Virginia Bar Association.
Kimberly hails from the Alleghany Highlands of Virginia and enjoys talking about the beauty of the mountains. She lives in Arlington, Virginia with her husband and two children.
